Restaurant Recommendations
My interests and tastes are a reflection of what was impressed upon me at a young age. My passion for food is largely attributed to the meals my mom made and the variety of restaurants my dad exposed me to as a child. Places would range from fine dining with white tablecloths to a hole in the wall, but I was always reminded that the best meals are the ones you have at home.
While I still believe that, I also fell in love with the experience of going out to eat. Each of these restaurants has left an impression on me in some way.
Sara truly feels like a hidden gem. I wrote about this restaurant when I applied to Taste Toronto. The cuisine can’t be easily described since it’s globally inspired. Their tasting menu stands out as the most valuable I've encountered. Considering the quality, variety and flavour of what you’re getting in the comfort of sleek modernity — love.

COTE de BOEUF
Some of the most beautifully crafted dishes I have ever seen have been from this Royal Thai-inspired restaurant. When I came here for the first time at the beginning of 2020, I was blown away by the colour, texture and flavour I was met with during my meal. The cocktails follow the same ideals. I adore it when pasta and focaccia are made in-house. I never hesitate to accept or send an invitation to this plant-forward Italian restaurant. The meatballs really do taste that good. This restaurant feels dainty and for the girls.
GIA
If I’m in the mood for richly flavourful and decadent French food then I’m going here. The butcher-style wine bar is warm and feels like you are tucked away from the rest of the world. The have the cutest patio in the city — perfect for two.
This spot is just effortlessly cool. For the longest time you could only get a reservation by calling. The cuisine is inspired by Tokyo homestyle cooking. Small fresh plates that you won’t really find anywhere else. Aside from food, they curate incredible playlists.
My go-to when I’m in the mood for a casual and delicious plate of pasta. I did a spot review here for Taste Toronto and was sold after my interview with the chef, super cool dude. The three pasta dishes on the menu change daily but the one constant is the friendly neighbourhood feeling.
BAR ISABEL
I cherish this intimate Spanish tapas restaurant. It is home to my favourite dessert in the city. When I’m finished indulging in croquettes and pan con tommate, I always leave room for the Basque cake. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the gluten-free option — sometimes I do both.
Not only do I adore the team and the name, but this College St restaurant inspires me to be better. The level of attention to detail is unparalleled, matched only by the exceptional craftsmanship and quality of the food. I recognized the value of hospitality after my first few visits.
